CGF extends its governance services with new appointment: Leon Govender (2013-02-25)

CGF Research Institute (Pty) Ltd is delighted to welcome Leon Govender to its ranks as a Lead Independent Consultant.
After more than 20 years business experience of strategic and operational roles in successful multinational organisations, Leon has successfully filled a number of senior leadership roles over the years. Leon initially served as Quality Controller at Amalgamated Appliances, where he then became the Quality Auditor and subsequently quality engineer. After eight years, he joined African Defence Systems where he served as Quality Auditor / Project Representative for 4 years. Over the next 12 years he served in the telecoms / service sector, initially joining Motorola SA as Quality and Risk Manager (for the Vodacom account). At Cell C and MTN SA, he served as Head of Risk / Quality Management in both companies, and at Neotel he served as Executive Audit, Risk & Compliance.
Whilst at Cell C, Leon pioneered and successfully matured the Risk and Quality Management functions. At Neotel, he pioneered and successfully matured the Audit Risk and Compliance function. In addition, he also headed-up special projects for; mergers and acquisitions, asset management and business process management.
This vast, practical experience, places Leon amongst the best, furthermore allowing him the opportunity to apply and transfer his knowledge amongst his peers. Leon’s experience has equipped him with the necessary understanding and skills required to interact at all levels of an organisation, their boards and audit committees. Moreover, his in-depth, proven superior risk management skills on all enterprise disciplines and strong knowledge of IFRS and Sarbanes Oxley implementation and reporting has crafted him into an astute business minded professional.
Having served a number of years as an Executive in Audit Risk & Compliance -- whilst assisting Boards and their Committees fulfil their respective fiduciary and other governance responsibilities -- Leon has been able to provide appropriate advice regarding corporate governance, compliance and risk matters, executive management effectiveness and evaluations.
