CGF partners the Southern Africa Compliance Awards: 2014 (2014-07-23)

Compliance professionals are to be recognised and rewarded at the inaugural Southern Africa Compliance Awards, which will be taking place in Johannesburg on 19th November 2014, at La Toscana of Montecasino.
The awards ceremony is organised by C5 and will represent and reward professionals from across the compliance sector, recognising the very best individuals, teams and initiatives; highlighting the united efforts of this innovative and dynamic sector.  The key highlight of twelve months’ worth of diligence, vision and commitment in helping to keep compliance at the very top of its game, the ‘Southern Africa Compliance Awards 2014’ will be judged by prominent compliance and regulatory professionals from across the spectrum of the corporate, legal and professional services world in Southern Africa.

As one of the strategic media partners, CGF Research Institute (Pty) Ltd is proud to be a part of this auspicious event.  The event is expected to become a regular annual feature in the diaries of organisations’ across Southern Africa.  Organisations large and small, including those for profit and non-profit, will be recognised for their efforts of becoming more aligned to their respective compliance requirements, as well as being more sustainable.

Promoting and supporting compliance professionals in Africa

Nominations for the 2014 Southern Africa Compliance Awards are open and we are on the lookout for submissions from all the talented and worthy compliance professionals in the region.  Individuals, teams, firms and initiatives will be honoured across a range of categories for their commitment and outstanding work in compliance and regulatory activities in the region.

Categories range from Chief Compliance Officer of the Year and Inspirational Woman of the Year in Compliance to the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for Services to the Southern Africa Compliance Industry with the newly introduced award for the best B-BBEE Programme Implementation.

Sasol Oil, GE Africa, BHP Billiton, eTranzact International Plc, Women in Mining Guinea,  Dell Computer and the National Institute of Organisational Compliance Consulting of South Africa are among those who have already put forward their nominations, to take part in what will be a highlight of the compliance year.

The Southern Africa Compliance Awards 2014 are free to enter and the entry deadline is 8th August 2014. Winners will be announced at the gala dinner and awards ceremony on 19th November 2014 at the La Toscana of Montecasino, Johannesburg.

The judges are  prominent compliance and regulatory professionals from across the spectrum of the corporate, legal and professional services world in Southern Africa, including Penny Solomon (Vodacom), Heather Loewenthal (Barclays Africa Group), Dave Loxton (ENSafrica), Mandy Munro-Smith (Bowman Gilfillan), Eugenia Mwale (First National Bank), Bethuel Nsibande (Standard Bank Group), and Terrance Booysen (CGF) to name but a  few.

Brian Reffell, Awards Director, explains why the Awards are such an important development for the compliance community in Southern Africa:  “The Awards bring together the compliance community, in Southern Africa, to share and recognise the efforts that they and their respective organisations make in the name of good governance, compliance and risk management to secure and enhance business opportunities in the region.  They will help underline the excellence and diligence of the work that compliance professionals in Southern Africa carrying out, inspiring and motivating industry peers, and the wider business community. The Awards will be an annual beacon, shining a light on the excellence in performance in compliance in Southern Africa, providing much needed recognition for this mission critical business function.”
