Terrance Booysen (CHIEF ExecutivE OFFICER)

In 2004, Terry co-founded CGF Research Institute (‘CGF’) where he is an Executive Director and majority shareholder. Through Terry’s guidance and expertise, CGF specialises in researching and producing monthly corporate governance reports which underpin many of the company’s extended governance consulting services. CGF’s reports are externally peer reviewed and approved by subject-matter experts found mostly within the audit, legal and specialist organisation fraternities, both locally and abroad.

Terry is an accredited speaker and regularly presents to business and government leadership through seminars and key-note addresses on GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) covering the Corporate, SME and Government sectors. He has published numerous GRC related articles, addresses CEO forums and regularly serves as an independent judge of national business awards. He is also a regular guest of national television and radio talk shows, and is considered a subject matter specialist on corporate governance.

Terry has chaired many GRC events, as well as also being appointed as a strategic partner to international events such as the ICGN 2007, World Climate Summit 2011, the MDG Review 2012 Summit and the Southern African Compliance Awards 2014.

In 2013 Terry was recognised by the Worldwide Who’s Who® organisation for his business accomplishments and knowledge within the arena of corporate governance. In 2014, he was named the SADC regional winner and SA country winner in the SME Sector by the international Titans-Building Nations Awards. Through these recognitions, Terry forms part of an extensive international network comprised of diverse and talented professionals, helping members to develop strong personal brands in order to distinguish themselves from others in their respective industries.

Terry also serves as an Honorary Patron of the Proudly South African ~ CGF School Governance Annual Awards. He is also a member of the Institute of Bankers Leselo Appeals Panel and is a guest lecturer at various universities and business forums.

Prior to CGF, Terry held senior managerial and executive positions in the banking industry over a period of 18 years, having also attained his MMP, AMP and EDP through this period. He also served in an executive position at IBM SA covering thought leadership in the financial services sector, before entering the market as a free-lance consultant, specialising in smartcard banking, e-business and the corporate governance arenas.

Jenè Palmer CA(SA) (Chief Financial Officer)

Jené is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and a shareholder of CGF.  She has garnered a wealth of experience over the last two decades in the corporate environment including leading a JSE-listed ICT company as its CEO and returning the company to profitability.  Jene’s passion is rooted in assisting companies to reach their full potential and overcome the challenges posed by an economic downturn, weak strategic direction, operational inefficiencies or financial distress. She has practical experience in implementing business rescue and attributes her success in this area to her keen appreciation for strategy, as well as open and honest communication with all stakeholders involved in the process.

Jené's areas of expertise are leadership, strategy development, financial management, business optimisation, board evaluations and associated corporate governance matters.  She has leveraged her expertise by advising boards on turnarounds, corporate governance, risk management, strategy and performance management.  Her broad range of skills and experience have ideally positioned her to perform board evaluations and provide practical recommendations for overall governance improvement.  Furthermore, Jené has been instrumental in drafting corporate governance questionnaires and various governance instruments as well as conducting governance workshops for both the private and public sector.  She has also published articles pertaining to the CGF Corporate Governance Framework®.  Amongst Jenés’ many noteworthy business accolades, she was also selected as Finalist in the BWASA Business Woman of the Year 2008 and Finalist in CSSA IT Personality of the Year 2010.

Petra Booysen (Financial Administrator)

Petra Booysen (Financial Administrator)

Petra Booysen is our financial manager and administrator where she fulfills the role of managing CGF’s accounts, including back office support and administration. Prior to joining CGF in March 2004, Petra was a Financial Officer at Nedbank, covering the financial accounts for the bank’s Technology & Operations division. Over the periods 1994 - 2002, Petra fulfilled the functions of Assistant Accountant and then Accountant for Gaertner, an export/import company in Cape Town. Petra holds a BComm in accountancy obtained from the University of Pretoria and a BCompt(Hons) from UNISA. She is fluent in English, Afrikaans and German.
